The ON-35-400 enclosure is designed for users who demand the most from an external hard drive enclosure and computer data storage. The ToughDrive 3.5 HDD enclosure meets their storage needs with the security encryptionconfiguration, rubber anti-shock mounting system, silent operation and the combo FireWire and USB 2.0 interfaces. Supports LBA 48 hard disk sizes of up to 400 GB.

An added feature of this external usb and firewire enclosure is secure key access, meaning the drive enclosure will not allow information access to the hard drive without its security key. Your data is protected even if the entire drive is stolen, because thieves can't access your files without the secure key. Unhindered, real-time encryption means all your data is securely encrypted during transfer with no performance loss.

Detailed Description

The hardware security encryption of the enclosure eliminates the need for separate (less secure) additional software, and the "Secure Key" feature which prevents access to the hard drive by requiring a special physical "key". Automatic transparent encryption guarantees user acceptance and enforces compliance with security policies - Real-time encryption at 1.6Gbit/sec maintains full system performance - Government-certified DES and TDES algorithms assure high level security - Encrypted key lengths from 40-bit to 192-bit - Compatible with all IDE hard drives

The rubber anti-shock mounting system holds the HDD stable in place, protecting valuable data from violent movement or drops. The built-in power switch allows users to shut down the hard drive without removing the power supply. ToughDrive enclosures are versatile enough to accommodate virtually any off the shelf 3.5" IDE hard drive.

Supports Hi-Speed USB data transfer speed of up to 480Mbps, and IEEE 1394a data transfer speed of up to 400Mbps. USB Mass Storage Class offers driverless in Windows XP, 2000 and ME. Supports most LBA 48 3.5" HDD, and ultra high capacity HDD's up to 400 GB. Easy to connect by plug-n-play.

Important Technical Information

Designs with 64/128/192-bit encryption are available by request. While the Coolgear ToughDrive is of a sturdy aluminum construction, the rubber anti-shock mounting system is not a anti impact mechanism. The rubber cushioned mounting holes are meant to help reduce damage caused by minor drops and bumps. Care should still be taken as with any electronic device.
